Dementia Bookcase Mural

This hyper-realistic mural was created for a dementia care unit, transforming an exit door into a warm, welcoming bookshelf scene. Designed with intention, the mural helps reduce exit-seeking behaviours by blending the door into its surroundings, allowing residents to feel more at ease and secure within the space.

The result was immediate and truly moving—staff and families noticed an instant shift in how residents interacted with the area, creating a calmer and more comfortable environment. This project also included repainting a mural that was over 16 years old, and the transformation was nothing short of magical. The updated artwork brought new life into the unit, and the response from everyone involved was overwhelmingly positive.
