This mural turns an ordinary elevator ride into a peaceful springtime escape. This was a full cherry blossom themed mural. One wall features a close-up of delicate cherry blossom petals, while the other showcases a sweeping branch in full bloom, wrapping the space in soft pink hues.
The mural took a week to complete, with the biggest challenge being the painting conditions—working through the night in a moving elevator while battling strong paint fumes. Let’s just say, if the ride didn’t make you dizzy, the fumes might have!
Projecting the design was also quite the challenge, as there was no power source in the elevator. I had to get a battery operated machine to supply power to my projector. The light was also an issue as you cannot turn off the lights. My way of solving this issue was putting layers of frog tape on the LED lights to help darken the space for projection.
Doing murals in different environments and textures is all about adapting and being creative enough to teach yourself new techniques.
Despite the challenges, the result is a calming and elegant space that adds a touch of nature to every trip up and down.
